Moor (Orlov), Dmitry Stankievich (Russian), b. 1883

Born in Novocherkaask, Rostov-on-Don pr., 1883. Studied at Moscow University; in P.I. Kelin's studio, Moscow, 1910. Active in Moscow. Began exhibiting no later than 1918. Member of Oktyabr from 1928 (founder member). Exhhibited with Akhrr 1923; Oktyabr 1930. Important shows include "Anti-Imperialist Exhibition", Moscow, 1931; "Artists of the Russian Federation over Fifteen years", Moscow, 1933; "Fifteen years of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army", Moscow, 1933. Taught at Moscow VKhutemas/VKhutein 1922-30; Moscow Polygraphic Institute 1930-32; Moscow art Institute 1939-43. Best known as a leading poster artist of Soviet period, graphic artist. Died in Moscow 1946.
