Gurvich (Gurevich), Iosif Mikhailovich (Ukrainian), b. 1907

Born in Odessa (Ukraine) (or in Kishinev Moldovia?) 1907. Studied at Yu. R. Bershadski’s classes, Odessa, 1923-25; Odessa Polytekhnikum of Visual Arts/Art Institute 1925-30 (29?). Active in Odessa until 1932; Moscow from 1932. Began exhibiting 1929. Member of ARMU. Important shows include “Artists of the Russian Federation over Fifteen Years”, Leningrad, 1932; “Industry of Socialism”, Moscow, 1939; “All-Union Art Exhibition”, Moscow, 1951. Taught at Odessa Art Institute 1930-32; Moscow Municipal Studio for Invalids of the Great Patriotic War from 1946; children’s art school, Krasnaya Presnya borough, Moscow, 1959-67. Died in Moscow 1993.
